“The Republic Got Dumber Because Of That Tweet” The Best Senate Floor Takedown Ever

If you haven’t seen it, there was a bit of a spat between Senators Ben Sasse and Chris Murphy.

It revolves around a Tweet that Chris Murphy put out about Republicans not voting for the latest omnibus spending package that was $1.5 Trillion and passed in the middle of the night. The accusation was that Republicans claim to be in support of Ukraine and say they want to support Ukraine, but when given a bill that contained aid for Ukraine, the majority of the GOP voted no.

He went on to accuse the GOP of being dishonest because they publicly display sympathy and support for Ukraine, but when given the chance to follow through they failed to vote for it.

Truth is, the aid for Ukraine made up less than 1% of the spending bill.

This massive bill contained so much pork and kickbacks, was thousands of pages, no one read it all, and it passed in the middle of the night on a Saturday so they could make sure that it missed the Sunday news cycle.

Senator Murphy takes to the floor to try and take down Senator Sasse and the result is an EPIC leg sweep by Senator Sasse as he completely destroys Senator Murphy.
